Sometimes it’s the silly little things that make life easier.
In the kitchen, it’s this silly little mesh basket that I love. Well, not so silly: I stock it with the baking ingredients I most often use. When it’s time to bake, I pull out my flour, sugar, and the basket, and I’m ready to go. No more mid-recipe hunting for the smaller items that so easily get pushed to the back of the pantry.
Baking soda and powder, check; extracts, check; cinnamon, yeast, salt, gelatin—check.
Ingredients in my basket include baking soda and powder; vanilla, almond, and coconut extract; and cinnamon, yeast, salt and gelatin. It’s a small thing, but my basket always makes me feel super efficient and organized—and, I have to admit, a little like I’m hosting my own TV show—a TV show minus the test kitchen, producers, staff, wardrobe, make-up, camera crew, and lighting … maybe it’s just best to say I’m rather pleased with my silly little basket.
