This year for Memorial Day I will be hosting a smashing poolside picnic for sixteen families and their dogs. I have worked all week on my hand sewn commemorative linen tablecloths and had organic hogs specially flown in from Virginia. It will culminate in a synchronized swimming routine set to “Your a Grand Old Flag,” followed by eco-friendly fireworks.
You don’t think I’m that crazy do you? This year, my Memorial Day plans involve zero time in the kitchen for me (a rarity). But if I were going to be hosting, this is the menu I would put together for family and friends. It’s easy, fresh, delicious and speaks to the season.
