Most of the time stock is an overlooked bloom, yet it’s one of my favorites. Some call it a poor man’s hydrangea or lilac— I call it gorgeous. It brings beautiful texture and fullness to arrangements. It even looks pretty all on its own in a little vase. Stock is available in many hues (at the grocery store!); you can usually find a perfect color to complement the other flowers you’re working with. The clincher for me is its fresh, clove-like scent that smells like crisp winter.
