There are so many reasons why I can’t resist sharing this refreshing, beautiful, ruby red grapefruit cocktail today.
#1. There is a bowl full of ruby red grapefruit just waiting to be squeezed sitting on my kitchen counter.
#2. I think we all deserve a pretty cocktail for making it through summer —the countdown is on, one week until school starts over here. Cheers!
#3. Just to show you that I’m an equal opportunity drinker, you can forgo the Mezcal for a great little mocktail. (However, I’ll be going the Mezcal route for reason #2.)
#4. This is a perfect celebratory drink to toast the newest and cutest newborn in town, aptly named, Paloma.
Have I convinced you to give this a try? There is even the added bonus of zero extra sugar added; the ruby red grapefruit makes it sweet enough.
For one cocktail
Sea salt for rim
3 ounces fresh squeezed ruby red grapefruit juice, plus grapefruit wedge for garnish
1 ounce lime juice
2 ounces Mezcal or blanco tequila of choice
Sparkling water
Rub the rim of a tall Collins glass with an extra slice of citrus and dip into a plate filled with sea salt. Add ice and the juice, followed by the Mezcal and give it a stir. Give it a top off with the sparkling water and enjoy.
