Today marks the first day of summer and boy has it been feeling like summer around my house. The pool is open, the smell of sun block perfumes our halls and I want nothing more that to be outside enjoying the weather.
To celebrate, I’m sharing a couple of great rosé wines we have been drinking here at home. Rosé is a perfect way to ring in summertime and it’s been way too long since I have blogged about wine – God knows I’ve been drinking enough!
What’s summer without some rosé wine? It’s crisp and cold (chill it!) that makes for a wonderful middle ground between red and white. It goes with so many different types of summer meals. I’m sure I could bore you to literal tears with the history of rosé or lament about the different grape varietals used …but let’s cut to the chase, here are two of my favorite rosés we are drinking this summer.
Collotte Marsannay Rosé 2012: As I type this blog I am sampling this terrific wine – now you know why there are some occasional typos and grammar mishaps in my writing – I truly wish I could blame the wine! Anyway, this rosé is dry, balanced, and wonderful — it’s French, it’s delicious, it’s pink.
Liquid Farm Rosé 2012: A local wine (imagine that!) that is light and beautiful. It’s a tad sweeter in class than the Marsannay, but a really good offering of a more traditional styled rosé from our Happy Canyon. Bottom line, it’s a total quaffer. You can find at The Los Olivos Wine Merchant.
