Ok, so this move has created a really, really stressful two weeks but honestly, I feel like I am coming out on the other side more organized. Although I’m not feeling so little after a few too many pizza-fueled unpacking sessions, I do feel ten pounds lighter after cleaning out a decade’s worth of closets and cabinets.
All I’ve wanted to do since we got here was get a jumpstart on my garden, but first it’s about getting through all the boxes. Right now what’s left are the office boxes, and while I keep telling myself that the sooner it’s all done the better, I really just want to go tinker outside and start planting.
We had our first little dinner party on Sunday, which helped make the leap from house to home. It was strange to grocery shop for veggies; I actually had to buy arugula and parsley at the store the other day, which is something I haven’t done in years. Our meal turned out great, but I did wake up the next morning and re-arrange all the cabinets and drawers in the kitchen to help it all flow better.
For the menu, I went with simple comfort food that was both easy to serve and well, comforting. I’ll post the recipes over the next few days, but here’s a little preview until I can pull all of it together…after I play in the dirt.
Home-Cooked Meal:
Hard-Boiled Eggs with Fresh Tapenade and Parsley
Arugula Salad with Meyer Lemon Vinaigrette
